HRH the Nnabagereka Sylvia Nagginda modernized the Ekisaakaate kya Nnabagereka (EKN) by making it inclusive for both girls and boys, blending contemporary and Buganda cultural values.
EKN operates within a cultural framework in a camp setting, featuring a mix of in-class learning, storytelling, dialogues, traditional fireside discussions, and practical domestic arts. This enriching setup not only teaches but also entertains, preparing participants to apply these skills in their communities.
Donate NowThe Foundation contributes to the national adolescent sexual and reproductive health policy by influencing positive behaviour change among adolescents. This the foundation does through its EKN Mentorship camps, public rally and health camps.
The Foundation also promotes an enabling social – cultural environment for provision of better health and information services for young people by engaging and interacting with parents and guardians of adolescents to understand and support their adolescent children.
Donate NowOver the last 13 years, We have mentored over 12,000 children and youth under its Ekisaakaate kya Nnabagereka. Against this backdrop, we have tapped into youth industriousness for employability and self-employment as a means of breaking the poverty cycle. We train and mentor youths, and in some instances provide seed capital to trigger their industriousness focusing on the cottage, ICT, agriculture and agro-processing industries
Donate NowThe Kiganda culture bestows different strains of leadership both of the private and public variety, thus we engage with the youth and equip them with the skills for critical thinking, effective communication and Obuntubulamu. Youth are then assigned to a mentor who helps to hone these skills.
Donate NowOur projects focus on eliminating violence against women and children, driven by the expanding moral circle and the powerful stance of HM the Kabaka (King of Buganda) against such violence. By embracing Obuntubulamu, we collaborate with cultural, religious, and community leaders to foster a moral imagination aimed at ending this violence. Recognizing its severe impact on the socio-economic and health outcomes of women and children, we leverage cultural influence to promote an ethical society.
Donate NowWomen are trained and mentored to engage in entrepreneur and enterprise management. They are also skilled to be the Obuntubulamu champions in the home and provided with an Income Generation Activity (IGA). This will contribute to a beautiful home which is self-sufficient with access to basic needs.
Donate NowUnder this project the Nnabagereka Development Foundation identifies women in business and governance positions at the village level, and these are paired with mentors who mentor them to grow. The aim is to see women-led village business expand to district and national level. In the same regard, we intend to see more women taking up leadership positions in social and political spheres at levels higher than the village.
